Founder Caroline Seear strongly believes in supporting many charities every year. The latest and one of our most notable was sponsoring the highest black tie dinner party.
In April 2015, a British expedition set out to climb Mt Everest by the North Ridge, En-route to the top they attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the highest formal black tie dinner party.
The menu for the meal was devised by Sat Bains, the Two Michelin Star Chef, who accompanied the team on the journey and was set to cook the meal high up the mountain. In a symbolic gesture to thank the Sherpa community for its many sacrifices, the expedition climbers were to serve the delicious meal to high altitude Sherpa.
However, due to the horrific earthquake in Nepal, the team had to abandon their Everest climb for their own safety. Thankfully, they're all ok and were not caught in the avalanche. Our thoughts go out to those who were not so fortunate and the families they have left behind.
The team were raising awareness and funds for Community Action Nepal (CAN), a charity founded by Doug Scott CBE, the first British climber of Mt Everest. Red is very pleased to be sponsors of this expedition and look forward to sponsoring similar events/expeditions in the future.
