Well done! You've made it through to the Interview stage. The nerves might be setting in, but there is no need to worry! We have some fantastic Interview skills for you to take advantage of:

Know who you are going to see

It is very important that you know who you're going to be meeting for the Interview. Not only is it polite to address the Interviewer correctly, but when you arrive for your interview you will often find they ask who you're meeting, so remember that name! It also allows for further research into the person who is interviewing you and their position in the company. Do your research.

Know your CV

I can't stress this enough - know your CV! The employer will have read through it a number of times by this point and they will ask you questions in relation to it.

Understand what the company does

Do some homework on the company! Make sure you know exactly what this company does and what markets they work in. Be prepared for that question "What is it that XYZ does?".

Prepare for any questions that you may be asked

This a difficult one, how're you supposed to know what will be asked? Well, you dont. But our advice here is to practice what you think might be asked.

•   Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
•   What can you bring to the company?
•   Why should we hire you?
•   What would you say is your biggest weakness?

These are just generic questions but you get the general idea.

Don't smoke prior to your interview as non-smokers might find this off putting

This is quite a simple one really, yet so many people still do it. The smell of smoke can be very off putting to an employer / their employees, especially if they're a non-smoker! So no smoking before your interview, leave it for afterwards.

During your Interview

Once you're in your interview just remember to stay calm, relaxed and most importantly be yourself. Below is a small list of tips for you to follow while you're in your interview:

•   Smile, firm handshake and good eye contact
•   Speak clearly and fluently
•   Show interest and enthusiasm
•   Ask any questions that are relevant to the company (maybe prepare some typed questions on what you want to ask
•   Pause if unsure about a question to collect your thoughts before answering
•   Stay professional at all times
•   Listen carefully
•   Be confident and polite
•   Don't be frightened to ask for clarification if unsure
•   NEVER knock a previous employer
•   Don't discuss salary until the client the is interested in you, or unless they approach the question first
•   Advise the client you're interested and ask for the job. Don't be afraid to tell them that you want the job
